Our Mission, Curriculum & Inspiration
"Nurturing confident, caring and curious children is our passion and our promise"
Our Mission
EDG stands for Educate.Develop.Grow.
Our mission is for all of our children to have a great start in life. We encourage our children to Educate themselves, with the support and stimulation from the adults around them.
At EDG we want to ensure that we provide the highest quality childcare that is both accessible and affordable. EDG Nursery will differentiate itself by a passionate attention to detail in everything we do underpinned by our method of teaching.
It is the objective of EDG Nursery to provide care to all children to a standard of excellence which embraces fundamental principles of Good Child Care Practice, and that this may be witnessed and evaluated through reflective practice, conduct and control of quality care and learning within the Nursery settings.
Our Curriculum
At EDG Nursery we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (September 2021) curriculum to track and support children's development. The EYFS is made up of seven areas of learning,
Three prime areas:
- Personal, Social & Emotional Development (PSED)
- Communication & Language (CL)
- Physical Development (PD)
Four specific areas:
- Literacy (L)
- Mathematics (M)
- Understanding The World (UTW)
- Expressive Arts & Design (EAD)
We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach and combine it with the EYFS to promote and encourage children's learning through play.
We strive to provide each child with fulfilling activities that children can learn and explore with. To support their development of their personal and social skills we provide a natural and stimulating environment both inside and outside to allow children the time to explore the world around them at their own pace.
Our Inspiration
We are dedicated to providing children with all the necessary tools they need to get a head start in life.
Our approach to this is inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach; originated in the Italian town of the same name. This ideology means we encourage independent learning. We never tell our children what they can and can't do, what the right way of doing something is or even if some things are possible. We believe that children thrive off of exploration and experimentation. We encourage our children to ask the questions and let their curiosity guide them in their journey of discovery.
"What would happen if I mixed these two colours together?"
"What can I use to build my fort?"
"How high can I stack these blocks?"
One of the main pillars of this approach to learning is using all natural learning resources; such as: sticks, leaves, wooden toys, light/shadow, etc. to help our children understand more about the world around them.
We believe children can accomplish anything with the right support and that is what we are committed to providing.
